King Charles to take doctors (but not homeopaths) on a tour of Australia

King will accompany two doctors on his 11-day trip to Australia and Samoa.

Charles’ visit to Sydney and Canberra will be his first official visit to the Commonwealth. To make it possible, Lord will stop the cancer treatment he has been receiving since he was diagnosed in February.

The 75-year-old king will be monitored during the visit. A palace source said the decision to stop treatment and restart it when he returned to Britain was based on medical advice.

It is understood that Michael Dixon, the head of the royal medical family, known for his interest in homeopathy, will not be one of the doctors accompanying the King.

The steps taken to support Charles abroad are they are understood to be similar to previous arrangements for the late Queen. They included traveling with the king’s blood supply, to ensure that there was a proper situation if a blood transfusion was needed.

In addition to accompanying his doctors, the King will be supported by medical teams from Australia and Samoa. In Australia, the trip has been made with the King’s health in mind: The King and Queen will have the day off and there will be no evening talks.

Last week, Charles had phone calls with the King of Malaysia, the prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda, the prime minister of Barbados, the president of Sierra Leone, the prime minister of Belize and the president of Zambia.

A meeting of Commonwealth leaders takes place every two years. It will be the first time that this event is held by a small Pacific island country. To accommodate visiting dignitaries and media, the cruise ship will function as a floating hotel.

A palace spokesman said in the spring that it was “too early to say” how long the King’s treatment would continue but that his doctors were “enough happy with the progress made until now”.

While it has not been revealed what type of cancer the King has, it is understood that he has been receiving regular cancer care since his diagnosis, even returning to London once a week from Scotland during breaks of summer for treatment. His first public engagement on taking up the job was to visit a cancer center with the Queen.

In Australia he is due to visit the Sydney Opera House and go to a barbecue, and he says he is looking forward to meeting the community. Due to his illness, however, the planned visit to New Zealand was cut short.

Instead, Charles has made efforts to meet New Zealanders in other ways. Speaking to the national rugby union team during a reception at Buckingham Palace, he said: “I’m very sorry I won’t be coming to New Zealand later in October – it’s on doctors’ orders. But I hope they have another reason [to visit] before too long. In the meantime, give my love to New Zealand. ”
